I would like to add that team sports teaches working within a team to get things done including how to leverage strengths of each player. I have seen my son play football. My observations with his experiences have been learning how to be part of a team. What should be said when and how and what should not be said at all. These skills are hard enough to learn - extra-curricular activities provide a learning environment for such skills that when mastered provide a level of leadership that is hard to find. I agree.
